Dr Sandy Skotnicki

Dr. Sandy Skotnicki is the founding director of the Bay Dermatology Centre and is Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine in the Divisions of Dermatology and Occupational and Environmental Health. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology, a member of the Canadian Medical Association, Canadian Dermatology Association, American Dermatology Association and American Contact Dermatitis Society. Dr. Skotnicki is a consultant Dermatologist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and is an expert in Allergic Skin Disease. She is also a consultant for the Workplace Safety Insurance Board. Dr. Skotnicki regularly provides commentary and contributes to medical journals, media outlets (e.g. Oprah, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, Flare, Elle Canada, Fashion, Zoomer, Chatelaine, Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, and CBC Radio). She published her first popular science book “Beyond Soap” with Penguin Random House in Canada and the US. It is a bestseller in Canada and was written to help the public navigate the increase in skin reactions to cosmetics and skincare. It details the rise in eczema and sensitive skin in developed society and offers science-based explanations. Globally acclaimed, it was released in Russian translation Dec 2020.

dr shane morris

Shane Morris leads Morris and Associates Consulting Inc., a global cannabis consultancy that provides regulatory and product development support to industry actors based on experience and proven execution. Shane has held C-suite and senior executive leadership roles in government and industry. He has over 20 years of experience in scientific and regulatory affairs, and has been a senior executive in the cannabis industry since 2015. Committed to rigorous, science-based consumer focused innovation, Shane has led the development and market introduction of many new cannabis products in the Canadian and European markets. Dr. Morris has held positions as Chief Product Officer for Aurora Cannabis, as well as Vice-President of Quality Assurance and Scientific Affairs at HEXO. Prior to his activities in the cannabis industry, Shane had fifteen years of experience at science-policy interfaces, working on high-profile risk issues within the Canadian federal government. He has held senior positions and executive appointments at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Public Health Agency of Canada, Natural Resources Canada and Treasury Board Canada Secretariat’s Regulatory Affairs Sector, where he advised the Canadian cabinet on regulatory issues and new government regulatory initiatives. Shane holds a Ph.D. in plant science and policy from the National University of Ireland (NUI), Galway and a B.Sc. in biology and mathematics from NUI, Maynooth. He was also a Teagasc Walsh Fellow. He publishes and lectures widely on regulation, risk and policy and has advised Irish members of Parliament and EU Members of Parliament on agri-biotechnology and cannabis issues. And, he currently serves on the Board of Directors on Feather Inc, a cannabis innovation company operating in Canada and the USA.

DR MARNI BROOKS

Dr. Marni Brooks is a Toronto based Family Physician focusing in the area of Cannabinoid Medicine. Her other clinical interests include primary care and ongoing advocacy work as Executive Chair and Council Member at the Ontario Medical Association. She founded the first Medical Interest Group in Cannabinoid Medicine in the country at the OMA. Dr. Brooks also created one of the first slide decks to be accredited by CCFP on Cannabinoid Medicine and Chronic Pain. Her other passion is in Addiction Medicine, an area in which she practised exclusively prior to her focus in Cannabinoid Medicine. She has recently integrated her two passions, using Cannabinoid therapy as a tool when treating patients with addiction. Other interests of Dr. Brooks include working as an Independent Medical Examiner and as an expert witness in criminal cases. Dr. Brooks is committed to educating her physician peers as well as patients and their caregivers on the benefits of cannabis for a variety of health conditions, either as sole therapy or in conjunction with other treatments.
